Mission
His research interests are in the fields of image processing, machine learning, and computer vision for looking at people, multimedia analysis and quality of experience.
Biography
Lutz Goldmann was born in Karl-Marx-Stadt, Germany of Apriul 15th, 1979.
He received his Dipl.-Ing. (M.Sc.) degree in Electrical Engineering from the Technical University of Dresden (TUD) in 2002. His thesis focused on the video coding artifact removal for motion compensated block based video coding. He received his Dr.-Ing. (Ph.D) degree in Electrical Engineering from the Technical University of Berlin (TUB) in 2009. His thesis deals with a hierarchical framework for the detection, description and recognition of humans within images and videos.
He has gained a good amount of experience as a researcher in universities, institutes and companies. In 2011 he worked as a research student in the Centre for Wireless Communications (CWC), Singapore on the development of a WCDMA downlink simulation platform. In 2002 he joined Siemens CT IC2, Munich, Germany as a resercher student where he developed image enhancement techniques for video coding artifact removal. Between 2003 and 2008 he worked as a research scientist at the Technical University of Berlin (TUB), Germany on the detection and recognition of humans within images and videos.
He was actively involved in several national and European projects, such as GraVis, VISNET, 3DTV, K-Space and VISNET II. He further served as member of the program committee in KSPJ 2007 and reviewer in international journals such as IVP 2008 and conferences such as MM 2008, SensSys 2008, 3DTV-CON 2008.
