News

The following news are concerning our old activities, you can find latest news here.

2008

  • Our paper has been accepted and presented in the 16th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO 2008).
  • Environment control Brain-computer communication demo, Friday 13 June 2008. Two live presentations of the P300-based environment control Brain-Computer communication device were given during the MMSPG “portes ouvertes” (open doors) day. The users tried to choose an item on the screen by means of their brainwaves without going through any training sessions. (See some photos)
  • A general classifier for the P300-based environment control has been developed. Thus, naïve subjects can use the system without training sessions.

2007

  • New PhD student Ashkan Yazdani joined the group.
  • Touradj Ebrahimi was invited to give a keynote presentation about our work at the IEEE International Multimedia Signal Processing Workshop 2007. You can download the accompanying paper here.
  • Ulrich Hoffmann finished his PhD thesis. You can download the thesis here.
  • P300 datasets from four disabled and four able-bodied subjects available for download.
  • Our paper on P300-based BCI for disabled subjects has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Neuroscience Methods.
  • Our poster on BCI for neurological patients has been selected for the “Best of Free Communications” session at the 16th meeting of the European Neurological Society.
  • Publication at European Symposium on Artificial Neural Networks 2006 (read the paper)
  • Special Issue on Trends in Brain-Computer Interfaces appeared in EURASIP Journal on Applied Signal Processing.
  • Paper accepted to Journal of Neuroscience Methods (read the paper).

2003

  • Reportage in the news of the “Télévision Suisse Romande” (in french) (watch the video)
  • Article in the Swiss news magazine “L’Hebdo” (in french) (read the article)
  • We are organizing a special issue on “Trends in Brain-Computer Interfaces” in the EURASIP Journal on Applied Signal Processing.
  • Article in EPFL internal journal FLASH (in french )
  • Article in “Neue Zürcher Zeitung am Sonntag”, (in german, read the article)
  • Direct Brain-computer communication demo, May 2003. Three live presentations of the Direct Brain-Computer communication device were given during the EPFL “portes ouvertes” (open doors) days. The user moved a space ship towards the sun using two mental activities (MAs) : imagined right hand movement (to move the space ship to the right) and mental counting (to move the space ship upwards). If any of these MAs was not recognized the space ship remained in place. (watch video of trial 1, watch video of trial 2)

2002

  • Special Session on “DSP in Thoughts Understanding”, in the IEEE Digital Signal Processing Conference, June 2002
